San Jose del Cabo is located 18 miles east
of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California. Connected by a 20-mile stretch
of land called “The Corridor,” San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas
are the main communities of Los Cabos, with San Jose being the
quieter, more traditional of the two.The downtown of San Jose, with
its adobe houses and jacaranda trees is quite lovely, and old homes
have been turned into stylish restaurants and shops. The main street
of town is just a few blocks to Playa Hotelera, a stretch of beach
that is very beautiful, but is too dangerous for swimming. However,
at the East End of the beach, you will find a freshwater lagoon
filled with over 250 species of tropical birds and plants – a great
place for birdwatchers. The best swimming beach is Playa Palmilla,
which is protected by a rocky point south of town. For a vast
stretch of unpopulated beach, head down Juarez to Pueblo La Playa.
In San Jose Del Cabo, you will find equipment rentals, tours and
lessons for diving, kayaking, surfing and rock climbing. Guides will
take tourists on fishing trips, glass-bottom boat tours and
snorkeling expeditions. The Corridor has become a vacation
destination unto itself, and is known for it’s fishing, large scale
resorts and championship golf courses. For exciting nightlife, visit
nearby Cabo San Lucas (the towns are so close, you can easily take a
taxi between them) In spite of the extreme growth of this area, San
Jose Del Cabo remains a peaceful town, the one to come to for a more
relaxing, quiet escape.
San Jose del
Cabo Weather & Climate
The
stretch of land immediate
south of California between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of
California is Baja California, Mexico ("Baja" means "Lower.") The
weather here can be divided into two distinct categories: hot
deserts and cooler near the oceans. Arid or semiarid conditions are
present on the Baja Peninsula and rainy days are rare outside of the
'rainy season' September through December, which is why many golfers
come here to play. Storms that do occur in summertime are short, but
most of them pass by to the south. Summers are quite warm with very
little humidity; winters have near perfect weather. June through
September is hurricane season, but hurricanes on the Pacific are
much less likely than storms on the Gulf of Mexico.
